Hello Rainbow Creek Families!

It looks like the cold weather will be coming to an end and the warm weather will return next week. With the large amount of snow, we anticipate that the grounds will be very slushy and sloppy. Please have your child(ren) keep these conditions in mind when dressing for school. Perhaps send a change of clothes in your child’s backpack.

We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the many parent volunteers who give so generously of their time to help our students and staff with hot lunch, freezie Friday, School Council, literacy initiatives, and field trips. Thank you for your continued support.

Candy Cane Fundraiser – December 2 – 6

Student Council is running their annual “Candy Cane Fundraiser”, from December 2nd to 6th. Candy canes will be cherry flavoured and cost $1.00 per cane. Students can pre-purchase candy canes online through School Cash Online OR in-person using exact change. Candy canes will be delivered to students on Thursday, December 19th. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the schools “Giving Tree”, helping families within our own school community this holiday season.

East Side Food Drive

December 9 – 13

Student Council is spreading warmth and kindness this winter season! Rainbow Creek Elementary, East Lake School, and Langdon School are teaming up for a friendly food bank drive from December 9th to 13th, called the East Side Food Drive. During the week, students are invited to bring in non-perishable food items to support our local food banks and help make a difference in our community. Food donations will be accepted during the school’s winter concert evening! Which school will collect the most and show the true spirit of giving? Please join us in this heartwarming challenge!

High School Students – Literacy Initiatives

We are fortunate to be able to partner with Chestermere High School to have their Leadership Students come to Rainbow Creek once a month and work with our students. The high school students go to one grade level at a time and work with small groups of students on skills that support reading. It has been amazing to see the excitement of both sets of students when they come! We are hoping to continue this partnership for the remainder of the year as a way to support literacy and connection.

This amounts to $2399.12 in proceeds that will be used to support our wonderful school. We are extremely grateful for your support making this another successful fund raiser.

We are looking for about 10 volunteers to help us sort chocolates on Wednesday December 4 at 9:00am and hand out chocolates on Thursday December 5, 2:30-7:00. If you can help out, please email us at rcescouncil@gmail.com
