Hello Rainbow Creek Families!
We would also like to wish our Kindergarten students and families a wonderful summer filled with fun, play and relaxation as they head into the break and finish their first year at RCE this week.
Report Cards
Report cards will be available online on PowerSchool at the end of the day, on Wednesday, June 25th. They will not be available to view on the app. You will be required to log-in to PowerSchool online to access them.
Colour House Day
Our colour house fun day is coming up next week on Tuesday, June 24th. If it is a nice day, students will be outside for a large portion of the morning. If it is raining, we have a back-up plan where we will still have the fun day, but it will be inside. There are a few things that would be helpful for your child to prepare for the day:
- Wear their colour house colour & show their school spirit!!
- Full Water bottle with their name on it
- Please do not send spray sunscreen. Please apply sunscreen before they come to school.
- A hat
- Running shoes
It has been such an amazing year at Rainbow Creek this year and we are really excited to celebrate through this day!
Important Dates & Reminders:
June 23 – Gr. 6 to Splitsville
June 24 – Color House Day
June 25th – Last day for students
Information for Next Year:
We are excited to welcome our new families to RCE in the fall. To help all our families with some initial planning, here are a few updates and information items on what the first few weeks of school will look like.
Return to School: Rainbow Creek will have a staggered entry in the fall for all students:
Tuesday, September 2 – Students with last names A-M only
Wednesday, September 3 – Students with last names N-Z only
Thursday, September 4 – All Students
Class Composition and Lists: Our Learning Support and Administration teams have worked collaboratively with the Learning Support and Administration teams at Eastlake School to create balanced classes for the fall. The class groupings are created with the purpose of optimizing learning for all students. Families will receive a welcome email from their homeroom teacher on Wednesday, August 27th.
Meet the Teacher: We look forward to meeting with our families on Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. Please come and say hello and mingle with staff and the rest of our learning community.
Lunch and Homeroom: We will continue to offer students a 20-minute snack and 20-minute play time for lunch. We will also have a 20-minute Homeroom block attached to either the beginning or end of this time where our staff and students will be engaged in PBIS, literacy, or numeracy initiatives.
PBIS: This year at Rainbow Creek, we’ve been working thoughtfully to bring our Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to life in meaningful ways. We began by establishing a school-wide matrix rooted in our core values, captured in the acronym “ARCS”: Accountable, Respectful, Caring, and Safe. These guiding principles are the foundation of the behaviours we model, teach, and uphold across our school community. Once the matrix was developed, we collaborated with both student council and school council to ensure it reflected our shared vision for the school. From there, the work became even more impactful, we hosted grade team assemblies where students explored and defined what “Safe” means at Rainbow Creek. Together, they discussed what safety looks like, feels like, and sounds like in their everyday experiences. As we return in September, this is where we’ll begin once again, by revisiting and deepening our shared understanding of what it means to be Safe at Rainbow Creek.
Technology: As per RVS Admin Procedure 148 (Responsible Use of Personal Mobile Devices in Schools) student personal devices (cell phones, tablets, smartwatches, etc.) are to be left at home. If you need to reach your student, please call the office at 403 273-8129.
