We would like to thank our staff, student leaders, sponsors, community partners, parent volunteers, and School Council for a fabulous Open House to welcome our new families coming to us in the fall. Please watch for a more thorough message coming out next week with some reminders about our last School Council meeting, celebrating the lucky winners from our draws, and acknowledgements. Thank you to everyone who made the evening an incredible success.
Our Mother’s Day wish was missed in our last Whiskers update. Although a little late, we wanted to send a special note out to all our mothers and caregivers. We hope that you had a relaxing and restful day spent with your loved ones and that you were showered with love and appreciation. Thank you for all that you do.
Please remember that we are heading into a long weekend. The school is closed to students on Friday, May 16 while staff engage in Professional Learning and is closed to all staff and students on Monday, May 19.
It looks like the weather may cooperate this coming long weekend. Wishing you all the best whether you are staying close to home or venturing out!
May 30th – No Freezies will be sold this Friday!
Volunteer Tea for Invaluable Volunteers – If you have volunteered this year, we would like to invite you to the school for high tea on May 30th at 12:00 in the Makers Space. We simply cannot provide the amazing experiences we offer to our students without the help of our volunteers.
Your care, support, and willingness to help all our students is one of the reasons Rainbow Creek is such a special place. Inviting you to the volunteer tea is the least we could do to show our appreciation for what you do for us. Please see the attached invitation, along with a form to RSVP. We hope you can join us because after all, we think You're Tea-Riffic!
Safety First: Please Walk Your Bikes on the School Grounds
To help with the construction on our school grounds and ensure the safety of all students and staff, we are asking everyone to walk their bicycles while on the school grounds and anywhere near the construction area. Riding bikes in these zones can be dangerous due to limited visibility, uneven surfaces, and increased foot traffic. We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing this rule with your child. A quick reminder before leaving home can go a long way in keeping everyone safe. Thank you for your understanding!
Spring Concert Reservations
Please use the links below to make a reservation for our spring concerts. Reservations are due by Thursday, May 29. We kindly ask that students prioritize attending the evening concert, as their participation is essential for a successful performance. To present the best show possible, we need all student roles to be filled.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Werner for Grade 5, Grade 6, and the Grade 1-2 Split class, or Ms. Johnston for Grades 1 and 2.
We’re looking for some helping hands to set up the stage and risers for our upcoming Spring Concerts on Friday, May 30th at 10:30 AM. We’re asking for parent volunteers from all Grade 1 and 2 classes, 5 Hrysak, 5 Bell, and all Grade 6 classes to assist us. Please note: the set-up involves some heavy lifting.
As a thank-you, volunteers will have the opportunity to reserve seats in advance for the concerts. Since our Volunteer Tea is also happening that day, we hope to finish set-up in time so you can attend and enjoy the celebration afterward.
If you’re able to help, please email Mrs. Werner at swerner@rockyview.ab.ca. Thank you in advance

News From RVS:
Literacy and Numeracy Reassessments for Grades 1-3
Some students in Grades 1-3 who have been receiving intervention support in literacy and/or numeracy will be reassessed on one or more provincial assessments in late May to early June.
Please note:
Not all students will be reassessed.
Kindergarten students are not required to be reassessed.
Final data will be returned to RVS in August; your child’s next-year teacher will have access to the information to make informed decisions about intervention supports needed.
Thank you for your understanding and support in our ongoing commitment to support student learning. If you are unsure if your child is being reassessed, please reach out to their teacher.
Rocky View Schools (RVS) has opened transportation registration for the 2025/26 school year through SchoolEngage. Parents/guardians are encouraged to register by June 30 to receive a $40 discount or by Aug. 1 to ensure bus service for the first day of school.
In response to rising costs, transportation fees have increased for the coming school year. A list of fees is available on the RVS website. Families are encouraged to take advantage of the early registration discount to offset some of the transportation cost. Eligible families may also apply to have their transportation fees waived by completing a Transportation Fee Waiver.
The June 30 early registration discount of $40 is extended to each of the first two Kindergarten – Grade 12 students in a family, with additional students receiving $20 off if registering early. A minimum payment of 50 per cent is due at registration. Bus service may be cancelled up until Oct. 31 to receive a full refund for all fees paid.
Families are urged to register as soon as possible for transportation to ensure a smooth start to the fall. To guarantee service for the first day of school, registration must be received before Aug. 1. Students registered after this deadline may experience delays of two to three weeks before they can ride the bus.
A step-by-step guide to registration, fee information and more is available on the Transportation section of the RVS website.
