Greetings RCE Families!
What an incredible first week at Rainbow Creek. We are so proud of our students and how well they are adjusting to classroom, hallway, and playground expectations and routines. We are so grateful to all of our returning students for welcoming our new students in and making them feel included and how well our new students are settling in.
This year at Rainbow Creek, we will be thoughtfully working to bring our Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to life in meaningful ways. We will begin by reviewing our school-wide matrix rooted in our core values, captured in the acronym “ARCS”: Accountable, Respectful, Caring, and Safe. These guiding principles are the foundation of the behaviours we model, teach, and uphold across our school community. Our welcome back assemblies had grade teams and students explore and define what “Safe” means at Rainbow Creek. Together, we discussed what safety looks like, feels like, and sounds like in our everyday experiences. For the month of September teachers will be hosting class lessons that revisit and deepen our shared understanding of what it means to be Safe at Rainbow Creek.
We also have some safety reminders for parents and respectfully ask for your support and cooperation with the following:
The staff parking lot is for staff only. Please do not use this area to drop off your child in the morning or arrange to pick up your child at the end of the day. It is not safe or appropriate to do so. The Bus Loop is for buses only. Please be aware that Bylaw may patrol both of these areas.
Personal Mobile Devices Reminder
Parents and students are reminded that our focus at school is on learning. We are very pleased to see that phones, smart watches, and tablets are being left at home and should not be brought or worn to school. As well, students are reminded that personal mobile devices need to be left at home on field trip days. Thank you for your cooperation!
Safe Arrival for Families
Safe Arrival is an absence management system that improves student safety and makes it easy for you to let the school know about your child’s absence. You are asked to please report your child’s absence in advance whenever possible. Please see the attachment for frequently asked questions. The Terry Fox run will take place on Thursday, September 25th at 1:30-2:30 pm.
This year is super special—it’s the 45th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s amazing Marathon of Hope. We would love to have some volunteers to help make our Terry Fox Run a big success. If you are able to help out that morning, please contact Mrs. Speers at tspeers@rockyview.ab.ca.
Please note that we do not have the space for parents to come and walk with their children.
Please ensure that all Terry Fox Donations are completed online.
The website link is https://schools.terryfox.ca/RainbowCreekElementary.
As a reminder, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the run and their water bottle is clearly labeled.
Lastly, your child must have the walking field trip form completed in School Engage in order to walk off the school grounds. Students that do not have this form on file, will walk the bus loop.
