Greetings RCE Families!
Our Terry Fox Run was a great success. We are getting closer to meeting our school goal of $6000. Keep up the awesome work and encourage others to donate to this amazing cause.
Did you know that just weeks after he was forced to stop running in 1980, 22-year-old Terry became a Companion of the Order of Canada, our country’s highest non-military honour. Today, there are more than 8,000 members and Terry is still the youngest one ever to receive it. He continues to make a positive impact and is a true Canadian Hero. This year marks the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, and our school was proud to take part and help “Finish It”!
Our deadline for raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation will be next Friday, October 3rd.
Today was Orange Shirt Day at RCE in honor of Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30. Orange Shirt Day is a time to honour the survivors of Residential schools, remember the children who never returned, and acknowledge the ongoing impact on Indigenous communities. It reminds us that every child matters and calls us to walk together in truth, healing, and reconciliation.
